The Washington Hilton:
The Washington Hilton, a member of
Historic Hotels of America, opened June 20,
1965 and has been host to many big events
since. In May of 1973, it was the host to the
4th Gaufest and its’ International Ballroom
serves as the location for notable events as
the the annual White House Correspondents
Dinner, Presidential Inaugural Balls and
many International events. In the 60’s and 70’s, the Ballroom served as one of the largest concert venues and entertainers such as Jimi Hendrix and The Doors performed concerts there. The Hotel's most infamous moment is as the sight of the 1981 shooting of then-President Reagan.

Information about Hotel Suites
Due to the limited number of suites available to us at the Washington Hilton, we will be using an application process to make those suites available to attendees of the 27. Gaufest in a fair and equitable manner. If you are interested in reserving a suite at the Washington Hilton for our Gaufest, please see the documents below for more information, as well as an application form for anyone to fill out who is interested in booking a suite. Applicants will be notified of their application status in late spring, once all applications have been reviewed.
Hotel Reservation Information
1) You book your own room! Once the room block is open, you will be able to contact the hotel and reserve your own family’s room(s) for the Gaufest. Only two bedrooms may be booked per credit card transaction. If you need more than two rooms for your family, you will have to reserve those in separate transactions.
2) Provide a Deposit for your room. When you make your reservation, you will be required to pay for the first night as a deposit on your room.
3) Keep your confirmation number handy. Regardless of how you reserve, you will be provided a confirmation number for your reservation. These will be used later to help ensure that all members of a particular Verein are grouped together. When your Club officers submit the forms to register Gaufest tickets, they will be asked to provide the confirmation numbers for all members of their Club. We will then work with the hotel to see that all those rooms are together. No more being separated from your Verein-mates.
Room Options: There are two different room options to choose from. You can reserve either a room with a king-sized bed or a room with two double beds. At this point, only rooms are available for reservation, although suites will be available for reservation at a later date.
**Benefits of the Room Block: In our negotiations with the hotel, we have worked out a couple deals that are available ONLY to those who reserve a room through our room block. These deals will help to cut costs that would have otherwise been spent beyond the price of the room itself.
